***SEPTEMBER COMPETITION WINNER***

Thanks to everone for entering September's "Time For Tea" poem competition

Well done to Anne Pargeter from Hanham  for the following piece of amazing poetry:

Time for Tea

His demolition business folded,

The owner of ‘It’s Time for Tea’,

Bustled round his brand new venture

And rubbed his greedy paws with glee.

Hastily he piled up biscuits,

Cakes and pies and buns and scones.

He tweaked the lacy tablecloths,

Licked his lips and put his pinny on.

For on Saturday without exception,

Three little pigs all went to town.

They’d cruise the malls, peruse the stalls,

To find some new scene-stealing gown.

They giggled in their girly fashion,

Toyed with make up, jewellery.

Pranced and danced in front of mirrors.

Then exhausted headed off for tea.

‘Ooooh!’ squealed Dotty, ‘This looks fabo!’

As they stopped outside ‘It’s Time For Tea’

The spangled window looked enchanting

A wondrous array of confectionary

The waiter swanned up to their table,

A cheesy grin stretched twixt his ears.

He charmed them with his smarmy manner

‘What can I get for you my dears?’

‘Um…’ said Dot, ‘I think a crumpet,

And two jam tarts…. no make it three,

Six coffee cup cakes, four cream horns,

Oh!... and of course a pot of tea.

‘Yes!’ said Daisy. ‘Yes!’ said Dallow

‘That sounds simply loverly.

Double up the order twice!

And don’t forget four pots of tea.’

The waiter looked on quite delighted

As the little piggies scoffed the lot

‘Enjoy, enjoy, my little piggies.

I’ll just get the oven piping hot.’

‘Excuse me, Sir’, interrupted Dotty,

‘This pastry is a little dry.

Perhaps you could replace the jam tarts

With gingerbread and a small mince pie.’

‘Yes,’ said Daisy, ‘perhaps the ice-cream

Was I feel a little chilly.

I think I’d rather cross hot buns…

Oh! And another pot of tea.’

Round the kitchen, round the tables,

The waiter dashed relentlessly.

He thought, the more sweet treats they ate,

The tastier would those piggies be.

‘Pancakes!’ yelled Dallow, ‘Lemon! Maple!

We love them all!… And strawberry!

Six of those, and four of these,

And yes another pot of tea!’

The waiter flipped and tossed to order,

Fifteen, twenty, thirty, more!

He huffed and puffed from all the effort,

Then collapsed exhausted to the floor.

‘Ready girls!’ said Dotty ‘Let’s go!

Now it’s really ‘time for tea’.’

And the contents of the plates and teapots

Poured on the waiter mercilessly.

Amongst the debris of his teashop

Was a message on a serviette.

‘Don’t say we don’t leave a big tip!

This is the best you’ll ever get!

Your sneaky tricks and wily ways.

Beware ‘sheeps clothing’ we were told.

Now Mr Wolf, it’s time for your tea.

Revenge is sweet and best served cold!’

Revenge is sweet and best served cold

Your "Tea Party" goodie bag will be with you soon

Dotty donned her dragon costume and stepped through the curtain. Tonight was going to be eventful; first the shame of seeing Dennis (Dotty’s childhood sweetheart) whilst dressed as a Dragon, and secondly getting home to the foresighted whistles to the tune of Puff the Magic Dragon. She took two tentative steps onto the stage, and then it happened! She knew stilettos with this costume wasn’t the brainiest of ideas – but she had no idea the chaos that this choice was about to bring down upon the unsuspecting audience, and to her horror, Dennis' nose...
